The Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is home to many animals like Gaur, Sambar, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Slender Toris, Jungle cats, Giant Squirrels, Pythons and Cobras. However these animals are very shy and often hide in the thick forests when they sense that humans are around.. If you want to catch of glimpse of these animals you might have to stay for several days in order to see some of them and even then you might come away disappointed. Besides animals there are also plenty of birds and insects that can be heard and seen all over the place. The early mornings and late nights are filled with sounds of birds twittering and insects chirping.

The famous Lord Mahadeva Temple at Tambdi Surla, Dudhsagar Waterfalls and Devils Canyon is located close to this Sanctuary. With accommodation being made available by the Directorate of Tourism, a visit to this sanctuary can be a fun filled family outing.
