Devki Krishna Temple, North Goa

Location
Marcel, North Goa

The Devki Krishna Temple in Marcel is the only temple in India where Lord Krishna is worshiped along side mother Devaki as Devakrishna. During the Portuguese Inquisition the main deities and affiliate deities were moved from Chorao Islands to Mayem in Bicholim and from there on to their present location in Marcel.

The inner sanctum of this temple has a beautiful idol of Devaki and Lord Krishna. The idol of Devaki is in a standing posture with the child Krishna between her legs. This pose is considered unique and rare. Proper dress and decorum must be maintained when entering into the temple.

The most important festival celebrated here is "Malni Pournima'. It is celebrated in the month of January.
