Benaulim Beach, South Goa

Location
Benaulim, South Goa

Located just 2 kms away from the famous Colva beach, lies Benaulim Beach. Benaulim is slowly gaining recognition for its beauty and exclusive appeal. Benaulim was originally known as Banavali. According to Hindu Mythology Lord Parashurama, incarnate of Lord Vishnu, shot an arrow from the Sayadri mountains in the adjacent konkan region. The arrow (Baana in Sanskrit) landed at this village. So legend thus says that this is how Benaulim got its name.

Until a few years ago, Benaulim was just another lonely, isolated beach used mainly by fishermen. Their decorated boats still line the shores of this beach. There are plenty of boatmen, ready to take tourists on dolphin spotting boat rides. For the more adventureus tourists, there are a number of watersports providers that offer rides on jetskies, water scooters etc.
